El Santuario de Chimayó is a a Catholic pilgrimage site in Northern New Mexico. Enjoy prayer and reflection time, unparalleled natural beauty, and fun with your fellow “peregrinos” (pilgrims) as you make the trek!
Creatio has a variety of route options for all types and sizes of groups. Enjoy prayer and recreation time, unparalleled natural beauty, and fun with your fellow “peregrinos” (pilgrims) as you make the trek.
Creatio’s experienced staff will lead you on this pilgrimage both in nature and in spirit. Our guides have been on this route many times; in fact we helped create it! Accommodations can be customized to the needs and desires of the group and range from a more traditional pilgrim experience to a more luxurious one.
We have several route options, with multiple four day / 50 mile routes, to an extended 75 mile route over six days. Daily distances range from nine to 18 miles, depending on the group and the terrain.
You’ll spend most of your time walking in the Carson National Forest. Wheeler Peak, New Mexico’s highest point, is located in the forest, as well as a number of ski resorts and trails taking advantage of the forest’s beautiful setting.
After Chimayó, nearby Santa Fe is a popular stop for lunch and a tour of the Loretto Chapel and St. Joseph’s Staircase.
As a pilgrim with Creatio, all meals, lodgings, and visits to points of interest are prearranged and included in the cost of the trip. We want you to be free to experience God in Nature. As experienced pilgrims ourselves, we find this easiest when day-to-day cares are minimal and we are freely allowed to “Adventure in nature. Journey in spirit.”
